PARIS (AP) - After a second doping test came up positive today, American Tour-de-France champion Floyd Landis' says he's "never taken any banned substance" and that he won because he "was the strongest man" in the race. The International Cycling Union announced in Paris today that tests on the backup urine sample from the race have turned up the same result as the original -- elevated levels of testosterone. Landis, who comes from a Mennonite family in Lancaster County, faces the loss of his title and a two-year ban from the sport. The Swiss team Landis rides for immediately fired him "for violating the team's internal Code of Ethics." The team says in a statement that while Landis still has legal options, it's now his personal affair. Landis' spokesman says his lawyer is preparing a case for arbitration. The controversy erupted after Landis' astounding comeback from eight minutes behind during a one man breakaway in an Alpine stageof the race.
