SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - An attorney for Barry Bonds wants to know how the San Francisco Chronicle learned the Giants forwarded the outfielder's medical records to a grand jury investigating him for perjury and tax evasion. Lawyer Michael Rains says there is nothing in the records indicating Bonds used performance-enhancing drugs. Rains claims there was a government leak of his client's medical records.
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets is expected to start tonight's game against Pittsburgh after spending two months on the disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder. Sheets made four starts for the Brewers earlier this season, going 1-and-3 with a six-point-44 E-R-A.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Cornerback Ty Law signed a five-year, 30(m) million-dollar deal with the Kansas City Chiefs after passing his physical. Law led the N-F-L with ten interceptions while playing for the New York Jets last season. He's reunited with Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards, who was the Jets' head coach last year.
UNDATED (AP) - The Indiana Pacers have completed a deal that sends Anthony Johnson to the Dallas Mavericks for veteran floor leader Darrell Armstrong, forward Josh Powell and swingman Rawle Marshall. And guard John Salmons has signed a multi year deal withthe Sacramento Kings after four years with the Philadelphia 76ers.
UNDATED (AP) - The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Sean Avery to a two-year contract while the New York Islanders avoided salary arbitration with forward Arron Asham. Nashville has worked out a two-year deal with restricted free agent left wing Martin Erat. And free-agent right winger Ronald Petrovicky has signed with Pittsburgh after spending last season with Atlanta.
