WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A healthy Donovan McNabb may not have
mattered against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Brees
tossed three more touchdown passes, helping the Saints beat the
Philadelphia Eagles 48-22 yesterday. Making his first NFL start for
an injured McNabb, Kevin Kolb had a decent performance. He threw
for 391 yards and two touchdowns.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has a
sprained right ankle and he hopes he'll be able to play next week.
Westbrook had his ankle taped in the third quarter of
Philadelphia's loss to New Orleans yesterday. He had 52 yards
rushing on 13 attempts. Westbrook says the ankle feels sore. The
Eagles play Kansas City next week.

CHICAGO (AP) - Jay Cutler came through with a big pass to Devin
Hester on third down, to help lift the Chicago Bears to a 17-14
victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday. Cutler's home game
was a big improvement over his debut with the Bears. He finished
with 236 yards. That was enough to offset a solid performance by
Ben Roethlisberger.

ATLANTA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies ended rookie Tommy
Hanson's streak of 19 consecutive scoreless innings, beating
Atlanta 4-2 yesterday and damaging the Braves' faint NL wild-card
hopes. Brad Lidge pitched another shaky ninth inning but posted his
31st save. The NL East-leading Phillies took two of three in the
series and are off today.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Kevin Correia continued his strong September,
pitching seven strong innings and the San Diego Padres shutout the
Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 yesterday. Correia allowed six hits, did not
walk a batter and struck out five. Meanwhile, Heath Bell struck out
the last two batters for his National League-leading 39th save in
44 opportunities.
