WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Kevin Kolb will make his second straight
start for the Philadelphia Eagles if Donovan McNabb can't play
against Kansas City. Coach Andy Reid isn't sure whether Jeff Garcia
or Michael Vick would be the backup quarterback in that scenario.
Vick is eligible to play for the first time in a regular season
game this Sunday.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Chase Headley's career-high fifth hit of the
game drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and the San Diego
Padres won their third straight over the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-6
last night. Headley hit a line drive into off Jeff Karstens to help
the Padres to their eighth win in 12 games. The Pirates are at home
tonight against Cincinnati.

MIAMI (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies play a double header
today down in Miami against the Florida Marlins. One of the games
was originally supposed to be played last night. But the Marlins
share the same stadium with the Miami Dolphins, who played the
Baltimore Colts last night in Monday Night Football. That forced
the Phillies and Marlins to play 2 games today.

MONTREAL (AP) - In preseason hockey action, Brian Gionta had two
goals and an assist to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 win
over the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Sergei Gonchar, Evgeni
Malkin and Bill Guerin scored for Pittsburgh, which fell to 1-2
during the preseason.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - No. 5 Penn State's star linebacker
Sean Lee has a sprained left knee. A team spokesman says his
availability for practice is day to day. Lee appeared to hurt the
knee during the first half of last week's 31-6 win over Temple. He
stayed in the game until midway through the fourth quarter, when he
limped off to the sideline.
