PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Antawn Jamison scored 32 points and had 14
rebounds, Nick Young scored 21 points and the Washington Wizards
beat the Philadelphia 76ers 104-97 on Tuesday night. Andre Iguodala
scored 20 points, Samuel Dalembert had season-highs of 20 points
and 20 rebounds and Lou Williams added 19 points for the Sixers.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jordan Staal scored twice, Ruslan Fedotenko
ended Pittsburgh's power-play slump, and the Penguins beat the
Atlanta Thrashers 5-2 on Tuesday night. Jim Slater scored his
second and third goals of the season about 13 minutes apart in the
second period for Atlanta.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson's
contract is guaranteed for the rest of the season. The Sixers
yesterday announced that they had guaranteed the remainder of his
prorated one-year contract worth $1.3 million. Iverson signed with
the Sixers as a free agent on Dec. 3.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz is
scheduled to have surgery Wednesday to repair a torn abdominal
muscle and is expected to be out four to six weeks. The Penguins
recalled forward Luca Caputi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to replace
Kunitz, who had six goals and 20 points in 30 games.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Penguins assistant coach Mike Yeo is out of
the hospital and expects to return to Pittsburgh on Wednesday. The
Penguins say Yeo was released from a Florida hospital Tuesday after
undergoing tests. He became ill following Pittsburgh's game at
Tampa Bay on Saturday.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach Ken
Anderson is retiring. Anderson, who is 60, was an NFL player or
coach for 33 seasons and is one of 25 semifinalists this year for
the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
IRVING, Texas (AP) - Dallas Cowboys right tackle Marc Colombo
could be back in the lineup for the playoffs after missing seven
games with a broken left leg. Phillips practiced yesterday, and
Coach Wade Phillips says it seems he'll be able to play against
Philadelphia Saturday.
NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say former NBA player
Jayson Williams has been charged with drunken driving after ran
into a tree with his SUV in Manhattan. The former New Jersey Nets
star suffered a minor bone fracture in his neck and cuts to his
face.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed
guard Cameron Stephenson. Stephenson, a fifth-round pick by
Pittsburgh in 2007 who has spent time with Green Bay, Philadelphia
and New Orleans, spent 15 weeks on Jacksonville's practice squad.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State linebacker Navorro Bowman
will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft. He had 86
tackles with a team-high 17 for a loss in combining with seniors
Sean Lee and Josh Hull to form one of the country's top linebacking
units.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - Freshman C.J. McCollum scored 31 points,
including seven 3-pointers, to lead Lehigh to a 75-69 win over Yale
on Tuesday night. Zahir Carrington added 16 points for Lehigh.
Michael Sands had 17 points and Greg Mangano added 14 points and 13
rebounds for the Bulldogs.
