WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Friday

CLEVELAND (AP) - There's nothing Super about the Pittsburgh
Steelers anymore. The defending NFL champions lost their fifth
straight and had their playoff hopes sacked by the lowly Cleveland
Browns, who ended a 12-game losing streak against their rival by
beating the Steelers 13-6 last night in subzero wind chills. Ben
Roethlisberger was sacked eight times.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A pair of Pittsburgh Steelers fans in
south-central Pennsylvania will be able hang a banner at their
house supporting the NFL team - at least for now. Alissa Myers and
her husband have a banner on their porch that says, "You're in
Steelers Country." Penbrook borough officials first said the sign
violated an ordinance governing temporary banners. But now they are
allowed to display the banner, while Penbrook looks into whether
the law should be changed.

MONTREAL (AP) - Pascal Dupuis scored on a slap shot 13:21 into
the third period and Marc-Andre Fleury made 19 saves as the
Pittsburgh Penguins stopped Montreal's three-game winning streak
with a 3-2 win over the Canadiens last night. Sergei Gonchar had a
goal and an assist, and Matt Cooke also scored for the Penguins,
who had lost two in a row.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Brian Elliott made 22 saves in his second
NHL shutout and Nick Foligno and Jesse Winchester scored
third-period goals to give the Ottawa Senators a 2-0 victory over
the slumping Philadelphia Flyers last night. The Flyers were
blanked for the third time in six games. They are 1-3 under new
coach Peter Laviolette, who replaced John Stevens

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles rolled up 391 yards
of offense and 40 points in a rout of the New York Giants six weeks
ago. They're not expecting a repeat in the rematch when the two
teams play again at the Meadowlands this Sunday night. Several
Giants defenders were embarrassed by their performance in
Philadelphia during the Eagles win Nov. 1.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Former AL Rookie of the Year Bobby Crosby
and the Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a one-year contract. The
29-year-old infielder had spent his previous seven seasons with
Oakland and was voted the rookie honor in 2004, when he batted .239
with 22 homers and 64 RBIs.
