DALLAS (AP) - Jason Terry made a 17-footer with 1.4 seconds
left, Dirk Nowitzki had 28 points and the Dallas Mavericks handed
the Philadelphia 76ers their seventh straight loss, 104-102 last
night. Willie Green scored a season-high 23 points, and Elton Brand
and Thaddeus Young each had 21 for the 76ers.
DALLAS (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand returned to
the lineup last night against the Dallas Mavericks after missing
three games with a sore right hamstring. Brand, who was injured
last Tuesday against Washington, was the first 76ers player off the
bench and entered with 5:46 left in the first quarter. He came in
averaging 11.5 points.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers
have met to discuss a possible return to the team. 76ers president
Ed Stefanski says in a statement that both parties remain
noncommittal about a final decision after a nearly two-hour meeting
yesterday in Dallas.
NEW YORK (AP) - Mike Rupp shook off a leg injury in the third
period, snapped a tie with his second goal of the night, and then
completed his first NHL hat trick. He helped the Pittsburgh
Penguins break a long losing streak at Madison Square Garden and
sweep a home-and-home series from the New York Rangers with a 5-2
victory last night.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson's status
is uncertain after he sustained a concussion in Sunday's 27-24 win
over Washington. Meanwhile, running back Brian Westbrook will be
re-examined this week after missing the last two games with his
second concussion of the season. Coach Andy Reid says Jackson will
"continue to be tested".
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Michael Vick tells students at his old
middle school in Virginia that they should avoid the kind of bad
decisions that landed him in federal prison for dogfighting.The
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback spoke yesterday to about 400
students in Newport News. Vick did not speak to reporters outside.
