PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Danny Briere scored two goals in the Philadelphia Flyers' 6-2 win over Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night. Danny Syvret, Dan Carcillo, Mike Richards and James van Riemsdyk also scored for the Flyers. Nikolai Kulemin and Alexei Ponikarovsky scored for Toronto.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have fired offensive line coach Larry Zierlein. He was the first Steelers assistant coach to lose his job since coach Mike Tomlin was hired in 2007.
Zierlein previously coached for the Browns and Bills, plus five college teams.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Former Philadelphia Phillies reliever Clay Condrey has agreed to terms on a one-year, free-agent contract with the Minnesota Twins. The Twins announced the deal with the right-hander Wednesday. Minnesota also released right-handed reliever Bobby Keppel.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State tailback Evan Royster says he'll stay in school for his senior season, bypassing a chance to enter the NFL draft. The two-year starter says he wants to finish his degree in management information systems. Royster is 481 yards shy of breaking a school record of 3,398 rushing yards.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Lavoy Allen had 20 points and 11 rebounds, Ryan Brooks added 13 points and No. 21 Temple beat Saint Joseph's 73-46 on Wednesday night. It was the Atlantic-10 opener for both teams.

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points, Maalik Wayns added 18 and No. 6 Villanova beat DePaul 99-72 on Wednesday night. The Blue Demons never put up a fight in their second straight loss to a top 15 conference opponent.

BALTIMORE, Md. (AP) - Zack Rosen scored 28 points to lead four Penn players in double figures as the Quakers beat Maryland-Baltimore County 82-71 on Wednesday night. Chris De La Rosa scored a career-high 28 points for the Retrievers.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Gerald Colds and Chris Fouch scored 19 points each as Drexel beat Virginia Commonwealth 75-72 on Wednesday night. Bradford Burgess scored 30 points for the Rams, who have lost two straight games.

EASTON, Pa. (AP) - Ryan Willen scored 27 points as Lafayette beat Columbia 91-74 on Wednesday night. Jim Mower added 15 points, Jared Mintz 12 and Tony Johnson 11 for Lafayette.
