PITTSBURGH (AP) - Evgeni Malkin broke out of a slump with threegoals and Sidney Crosby scored twice while figuring in everyPittsburgh goal as the Penguins beat the Islanders 6-4 Tuesdaynight. The Penguins twice blew three-goal leads but Malkin'spower-play goal made it 5-4 in the third and his empty-netter witha half-minute left completed the scoring. PITTSBURGH (AP) - Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis sustained afacial injury while being rammed face-first into the boards by theIslanders defenseman Andy Sutton near the end of Pittsburgh'svictory on Tuesday night. Dupuis was down on the ice for severalminutes, blood dripping off his face, before he got up and walkedwith assistance to the Penguins' dressing room. Sutton drew aboarding penalty and a game misconduct.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jeff Carter scored two goals and Ray Emerywon for the first time since returning from abdominal surgery andthe Philadelphia Flyers beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 onTuesday. Arron Asham, Chris Pronger and Dan Carcillo also scoredfor the Flyers, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Trail Blazers could have leading scorerBrandon Roy back in the lineup when Portland visits Philadelphiatonight. The Sixers suffered one of their most deflating losses ofthe season Monday, when they blew a 20-point lead and fell 108-103in overtime at Minnesota.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed linebackerDerrick Doggett, one of the top special teams players in theCanadian Football League. The Steelers had kick coverage problemsall season, allowing an NFL-high four kickoff return touchdownswhile ranking near the bottom of the NFL in kickoff and puntcoverage.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Randy Fichtner is switching roles on thePittsburgh Steelers' coaching staff, taking over as quarterbackscoach after previously coaching the wide receivers. Ken Anderson,the quarterbacks coach the last three seasons under coach MikeTomlin, retired at the end of the season.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Reliever Chad Durbin has agreed to aone-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies worth $2,125,000,a deal that avoided salary arbitration. The 32-year-oldright-hander appeared in 59 games last season for the NL champions,going 2-2 with two saves and a 4.39 ERA. He made $1,635,000.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pirates left-handed starter Zach Duke avoideda possible arbitration hearing by agreeing to a $4.3 million,one-year contract. The 26-year-old Duke gets a $1 million raisefrom last season, when he was 11-16 with a 4.06 ERA in 32 starts.
