WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Roy Oswalt pitched eight dominant innings,
Jimmy Rollins drove in four runs and the Philadelphia Phillies beat
the San Francisco Giants 6-1 Sunday night to even the NL
championship series at one game apiece. Oswalt allowed one run and
three hits, striking out nine. He also had a hit and scored a run
on a mad dash through the third base coach's stop sign.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies left for San Francisco
immediately after last night's win over the Giants. The NLCS
resumes tomorrow afternoon, when Matt Cain faces Philadelphia's
Cole Hamels, the 2008 World Series MVP.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Phillies slugger Ryan Howard spent part of
his day watching the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in one end
zone. He led a cheer and then hitched a ride with the Phillie
Phanatic, riding on the back of the furry green mascot's
four-wheeler to get to the ballpark.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger shook off the rust from his
four-game suspension to throw three touchdown passes, and the
Pittsburgh Steelers shut down a depleted Cleveland Browns offense
during a 28-10 victory yesterday. Hines Ward's 8-yard touchdown
catch in the third quarter made it 14-3 and gave the Steelers'
defense all the points needed on a mostly dominating day.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
received a loud ovation while being introduced minutes before the
opening kickoff against Cleveland. Roethlisberger flashed a Number
1 gesture with his left index finger as numerous fans at Heinz
Field stood and cheered. He was suspended for the first four games
of the season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson each scored
two touchdowns as the Philadelphia Eagles snapped Atlanta's
four-game winning streak with a 31-17 victory yesterday. A head-on
collision in the second quarter cost Philadelphia star receiver
Jackson, who suffered a head injury. Philadelphia ensured it would
stay atop the NFC East, while the Falcons fell to 4-2.

NEW YORK (AP) - Millions of Cablevision customers in the New
York and Philadelphia region remain without Fox's channels and
programming after a second day of negotiations over disputed rates
has ended without an agreement. Cablevision and Fox parent News
Corp. broke off talks yesterday afternoon. Fox spokesman Scott
Grogin said they would meet again today.
