PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ronny Paulino had a career-high five hits in
his first start for the Mets, including a go-ahead double in the
14th inning, and New York beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1.
Taylor Buchholz, one of six Mets pitchers used, pitched two
scoreless innings in relief to help New York snap a three-game
losing streak.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Fans at the Mets-Phillies game began
chanting "U-S-A! U-S-A!" as the news of Osama bin Laden's death
spread through Citizens Bank Park last night. People could be
spotted all over the ballpark checking their phones as news that
the United States had killed the mastermind behind the Sept. 11
attacks was breaking.

DENVER (AP) - Charlie Morton pitched into the sixth inning for
his third win, Garrett Jones had two hits and three RBIs and the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 8-4. Xavier Paul,
Andrew McCutchen, Lyle Overbay and Pedro Alvarez also had two hits
each for the Pirates, who took two of three in the series.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tim Thomas was invisible in last year's
playoffs, never called on to stop a Flyers' comeback that knocked
Boston out of the conference semifinals. Only an injury could keep
Thomas out of Boston's net this postseason. Thomas rebounded from
offseason hip surgery and won 35 games. Game 2 is today in
Philadelphia.
