UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Islanders for the 26th time in 28 games, 3-2 last night. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 33 shots. Scott Hartnell, Wayne Simmonds and Sean Couturier scored for the Flyers, who moved within two points of the Atlantic Division-leading New York Rangers.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) — Penn State President Rodney Erickson says it "grieves" him when people refer to "the Penn State scandal" because he thinks it centers on just one person — former football assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who's accused of molesting boys. About 650 alumni attended the sometimes heated 90-minute meeting outside Philadelphia yesterday. It's part of Erickson's effort to repair the school's image. Another meeting takes place today in New York.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Joe Paterno's son, Scott, says it's becoming apparent that his father's ouster as Penn State head coach by school trustees "was not handled well." Scott Paterno's comments in a statement to the Associated Press were in response to a trustees' statement that Paterno was immediately removed and not allowed to retire after the season because of "extraordinary circumstances."

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Buffalo Bills receivers coach Stan Hixon will be the lead assistant under new Penn State coach Bill O'Brien. Hixon is among six assistants formally announced to O'Brien's coaching staff.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Damion Lee scored 21 points and Drexel outscored George Mason 10-2 in the game's final 3 ½ minutes to seal a comeback 60-53 win last night. Drexel has won three straight, while George Mason had a season-high six-game winning streak snapped.

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — James Johnson scored 18 points, Ike Azotam 14 and Dave Johnson 12 — all in the second half — to help Quinnipiac rally past Robert Morris 78-76 last night. The Bobcats trailed 35-27 at halftime, and shot 66.7 percent in the second half.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is selling a Broncos' Tim Tebow jersey for charity. He's selling the jersey he wore earlier this week while striking a prayerful, one-kneed pose. The pose has been made popular by the Denver quarterback. Ravenstahl "Tebowed" in front of news crews to settle a bet with Denver Mayor Michael Hancock on Sunday's playoff game. The Broncos won 29-23.
