Sporting a thick, scraggly beard and longhair flowing beneath his baseball cap, Werth's appearance caused astir. After a breakout season with the Phillies last year, Werth'sperformance should get most of the attention.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson willmiss at least the next three games of Philadelphia's road trip tospend time with his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah who is sick.Sixers president Ed Stefanski says it was in the best interest ofthe team and Iverson to allow him time with his family to deal withwhat he described as a "very serious issue."

SEOUL (AP) - Chan Ho Park says he has decided to join the NewYork Yankees. Park says he agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.2million with an additional $300,000 performance to join the Yankeesbullpen. Yankees manager Brian Cashman says he's talked with Park'sagent but a deal isn't complete. Park went 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA in45 games with the Phillies last year.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Brett Myers lobbed pitches to his4-year-old son on a practice field on the second day of HoustonAstros spring training yesterday, happy and relaxed in his newsetting. The 29-year-old is starting the first season of hisnine-year career with a team other than Philadelphia. He missedthree months after hip surgery last season.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates president Frank Coonelly isat spring training this week, but his focus isn't entirely onbaseball. Coonelly says he'd like to get the National Hockey Leagueto stage its annual Winter Classic outdoor game at PNC Park on NewYear's Day. He says the Penguins hosting the Washington Capitalswould be a good draw.
