PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Penguins head into the NHL's Olympic breakon a down note - losing to the Nashville Predators 4-3 yesterday ina shootout. Sidney Crosby scored his 42nd goal of the season forPittsburgh but also took a painful shot off his right leg in thesecond period. Matt Cooke and Brooks Orpik also scored for thePens.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sidney Crosby was seen wincing in pain andfrustrated on the bench after blocking a shot during the secondperiod of the Penguins' 4-3 shootout loss to Nashville. Acenterpiece of the Team Canada Olympic roster, Crosby took a KevinKlein slap shot off his right shin about seven minutes into thesecond period. He did return to the game, however.

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Ricky Harris scored 27 points asMassachusetts defeated St. Joseph's 70-62 in an Atlantic 10 gameyesterday. The Hawks led by five about halfway through the firsthalf before the Minutemen went on an 18-0 run. Saint Joseph's hadsix turnovers and missed 13 field goals during that stretch.

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Darryl Shazier scored a career-high 27points to lead Bucknell to a 68-63 victory over Holy Cross inPatriot League action yesterday. Shazier was 9-for-13 from thefield and hit four 3-pointers to help the Bison gain a split in theseason series with the Crusaders.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Bill Clark scored a career-high 34 points inDuquesne's 103-82 win over La Salle in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukesscored 37 points off 28 La Salle turnovers. Melquan Bolding added24 points for Duquesne, which shot 55.9 percent from the field inthe second half.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Johnny Weir won't be wearingany animal skins at the Vancouver Olympics. The Pennsylvania skatersaid he's received "very serious threats" from activists sinceadding white fox fur to his costume at the U.S. Figure SkatingChampionships. The men's short program is tomorrow.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - The Washington Capitals have assigneddefensemen Karl Alzner and John Carlson and goaltender MichaelNeuvirth to Hershey of the American Hockey League. All threeplayers have split the season between the Capitals and Hershey.
