PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Flyers rallied from a 2-0 deficit and beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2, snapping a two-game losing streak. Mike Richards got the go-ahead score with less than eight minutes left in the third period of last night's game. Also scoring goals for Philadelphia were James van Riemsdyk and Jeff Carter.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — New Jersey Devils defenseman Anssi Salmela was taken off the ice on a stretcher after taking a hard shoulder to the face from Jeff Carter in the Flyers' 3-2 win last night. There was no immediate word on his condition. The hit came moments after Salmela scored a shorthanded goal for the Devils.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Villanova rebounds from their weekend loss at Georgetown. The fourth-ranked Wildcats held off fifth-ranked West Virginia 82-75 in Morgantown last night. Scottie Reynolds scored 19 of his 21 points in the game's final 13 minutes. The win pulled Villanova into a first-place tie with Syracuse in the Big East.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ashton Gibbs and Jermaine Dixon led a mid-game surge as Pittsburgh beat city rival Robert Morris 75-53 last night. The game was tied at 32 with 2:38 left in the first half, but the No. 25 Panthers scored 27 of the next 32 points to take control. Karon Abraham had 16 points for Robert Morris, but was held without a field goal in the second half.
UNDATED (AP) — Villanova drops two spots to No. 4 in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll after losing to No. 7 Georgetown. Syracuse took over the No. 2 spot from Villanova in the latest poll. Temple and Pittsburgh both dropped in the rankings, the Owls to 21st and the Panthers to 25th.
HOUSTON (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers coach Eddie Jordan says there is "no timetable" for Allen Iverson's return to the team. Iverson has missed three straight games because of his daughter's illness. The Sixers host the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers are 2-and-0 without Kobe Bryant. Even with Bryant sidelined for a second straight game because of a sore ankle, the Lakers mauled San Antonio 101-89 as Pau Gasol picked up the slack with 21 points, 19 rebounds, six assists and five blocks.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Jason Terry scored a season-high 36, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, and the Dallas Mavericks rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Golden State, 127-117. Josh Howard and Drew Gooden also had season bests with 25 and 24 points respectively for the Mavs.

Corey Fisher added 17 and Antonio Pena had 10 for Villanova in the season's first matchup of teams ranked in the top five.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Second baseman Skip Schumaker and the St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a $4.7 million, two-year contract, avoiding arbitration. Schumaker, who just turned 30, hit .303 with four homers and 35 RBIs in 153 games last year after switching from the outfield to second base.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — On NHL ice, the Anaheim Ducks snapped the Los Angeles Kings' franchise-record nine-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory in the latest Freeway Faceoff.
Corey Perry had a goal and two assists for the last-place Ducks.
