NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists as the New Jersey Devils beat the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins for the fifth straight time, 3-1 on Friday night. Martin Brodeur made 33 saves for his 37th win of the season and 594th overall.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - LeBron James had 23 points, 10 assists and six rebounds in his return from a two-game absence, and the Cleveland Cavaliers won for the 14th time in their last 19 road games with a 100-95 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. James, the league's leading scorer, recorded his 26th double-double.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Juan Fernandez hit three 3-pointers and handed out three assists in a game-opening 24-8 run that led No. 17 Temple to a 69-51 victory over St. Bonaventure in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament. Temple has won eight consecutive games. The Owls next meet Rhode Island in the semifinals Saturday in Atlantic City.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - C.J. McCollum scored 20 points to lead Lehigh to the Patriot League title and its first NCAA tournament in six years in a 74-59 win over Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks are going to the tournament for the fourth time in team history. Zahir Carrington had 18 points and 10 rebounds as Lehigh never trailed.

ATLANTA (AP) - An attorney for Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has hired a private investigator to look into a sexual assault allegation made by a 20-year-old Georgia college
student. Police in the college town of Milledgeville continue to investigate, but have released little information since the accusation was made a week ago.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent wide receiver Hank Baskett to a one-year contract. Baskett was released by the Eagles last September after three seasons in Philadelphia. He then signed with Indianapolis, where he was primarily a special teams player.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies planned to play two split-squad spring training games in Florida on Friday, but both were rained out. The game against the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte and the game against the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland were canceled.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Atlanta Braves right-hander Jair Jurrjens managed to make his spring debut before Friday's game between the Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates was rained out. Jurrjens threw two scoreless innings against the Pirates before the game was called after three due to showers.
