Vince Carter contributed17 points and Matt Barnes had 14 for the Majic. Andre Iguodala andElton Brand paced the Sixers with 23 points apiece.

DETROIT (AP) - Henrik Zetterberg scored his second goal early inthe third period and had an assist, lifting the Detroit Red Wingsto a 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. ValtteriFilppula scored in the final minute of the first period, and JimmyHoward finished with 26 saves. Pascal Dupuis scored for Pittbsurghlate in the second period.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Infielder Wilson Valdez hit a two-run,walk-off home run to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-7 winover the New York Yankees yesterday. Philadelphia left-hander ColeHamels allowed seven runs and nine hits in four innings. MarkTeixeira led New York by going 4 for 4 with a home run and adouble.

EDINBORO, Pa. (AP) - Kutztown University guard Stephen Dennis isthe Division II college basketball player of the year, as chosen bysports information directors of NCAA member schools. Jordan started 10 games for theEagles last season, recording 82 tackles and two interceptions.He's likely to resume his role as the Eagles' starting weaksidelinebacker.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says heplans to meet with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger aboutthe star's off-field problems. Goodell already has spoken with teamowners about Roethlisberger, who is accused of assaulting a20-year-old college student in a Georgia nightclub on March 5.Roethlisberger's attorney says the quarterback committed no crime.
