PHILADELPHIA (AP) - LeSean McCoy ran 50 yards for the go-ahead
score on a fourth-and-1 late in the fourth quarter, and the
Philadelphia Eagles rallied to beat the New York Giants 27-17 last
night. Michael Vick led the Eagles to a comeback and helped give
them sole possession of first place in the NFC East.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles defensive back Ellis Hobbs left the
field on a stretcher with a neck injury after taking a hit to the
helmet on the second-half kickoff return against the Giants last
night. He gave the thumbs up with both hands as he was carted off.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - James Harrison caused two turnovers that Ben
Roethlisberger turned into touchdown passes, and the Pittsburgh
Steelers routed the Oakland Raiders 35-3 yesterday. Roethlisberger
finished with three TD passes and also ran for another score.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour was
ejected from last night's game for an openhanded punch to Ben
Roethlisberger's face as the Steelers quarterback was celebrating a
touchdown pass. Seymour was similarly ejected December 27th for
hitting Browns running back Jerome Harrison after a play was over.
He was fined $10,000 for that infraction.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired
forward Rob Bordson and defenseman Danny Syvret from the Anaheim
Ducks for forwards Patrick Maroon and David Laliberte. The Flyers
say Bordson and Syvret will report to their American Hockey League
affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - American runner Daniel Vassallo and the
Netherlands' Mariska Kramer outpaced a record field of about 11,000
runners to win yesterday's Philadelphia Marathon.
Twenty-five-year-old Vassallo, of Wilmington, Massachusetts
finished in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 28 seconds. Thirty-six-year-old
Kramer, of Drachten, clocked in at 2:38.55.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Duquesne University says it has received a
commitment from Shakore Grant, a 6-foot-7 forward who played last
season at Newark High School in Delaware. Grant recently
transferred to Appoquinimink High in Middletown, Delaware, after
his mother died. He is Duquesne's first recruit for the 2011-12
season.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Northern Iowa football team will
host Lehigh Saturday in the first round of the Football
Championship Subdivision playoffs. The Panthers finished the
regular season at 7-4 after losing at Western Illinois 30-14 last
week. Lehigh brings a 9-2 record to the UNI-Dome. The winner will
