UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Islanders got some revenge
against the injury-depleted Pittsburgh Penguins with their sticks
and their fists in a fight-filled 9-3 victory last night. With
multiple ejections in the third period, both benches had only a
handful of players on them for the final 12-plus minutes.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jrue Holiday scored 27 points to lead the
76ers to a 77-71 victory over the league-best Spurs last night.
Spencer Hawes added 13 points and Elton Brand tied his season high
with 17 rebounds for the Sixers, who defeated the Spurs for the
fourth consecutive season in Philadelphia.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Former Pirates manager Chuck Tanner has died
at the age of 82. The Pirates said Tanner's family informed them of
his death at his home in New Castle after a long illness. His
crowning achievement came in 1979, when his "We Are Family"
Pirates rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Orioles for
the World Series championship.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh wants to squash Villanova's fading
Big East title hopes. Winners of 12 of 13, the fourth-ranked
Panthers are rolling heading into today's game at Villanova. The
Panthers are first in the Big East and coming off a big win against
Number 25 West Virginia.
