WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Wednesday

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Still playing without star Sidney Crosby, the
Pittsburgh Penguins dropped last night's game against the Columbus
Blue Jackets, 4-1, at the Consol Energy Center. No Penguins player
in the lineup had more than 10 goals. The Blue Jackets saw a goal
apiece from Rich Nash, Jakub Voracek, Samuel Pahlsson and Antoine
Vermette in the win.

ATLANTA (AP) - Elton Brand scored 13 of his 17 points in the
first half to give the 76ers an early 20-point lead against the
Hawks, and they were able to cruise to a 117-83 win in Atlanta last
night. Louis Williams, an Atlanta-area native, had 20 points to
lead six Philadelphia scorers in double figures.

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - Dan Mavraides came down with a crucial
rebound and hit a free throw with 4 seconds left in overtime as
Princeton edged Penn 62-59 last night. The Tigers got their seventh
straight win to improve to 17-4. The Quakers were led by Tyler
Bernardini, who scored 19 points in the loss.

PHOENIX (AP) - An arbitration panel decision could come today, a
day after the Pittsburgh Pirates and pitcher Ross Ohlendorf went
through baseball's first salary hearing of the year. Ohlendorf is
asking for just over $2 million while the Pirates argue he should
be paid $1.4 million. The right-hander went 1-11 last season with a
4.07 ERA in 21 starts.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - With a couple of additions and four other
moves, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has his coaching
staff completed. Johnnie Lynn was hired to be secondary/cornerbacks
coach while Bobby April Jr. was named defensive quality control
coach. David Culley, Doug Pederson, James Urban and Duce Staley
were promoted to new positions.

NEW YORK (AP) - Fans who lost their Super Bowl seats when
temporary seating sections weren't finished in time for the game
are getting a second option. The NFL initially said it would give
$2,400 to the roughly 400 affected fans, and then said fans would
also get tickets to next year's game. The league now says the fans
can choose to attend any future Super Bowl -- not just next year's.
