PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins got the victory they
needed to get back into the playoff series against the Washington
Capitals. It comes thanks to Kris Letang first career playoff goal
in a 3-2 overtime victory in the Eastern Conference semifinals last
night. Game 4 is tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Albert Pujols homered for the fourth time in
five games as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates
4-2 last night. It snaps a three-game losing streak. Pittsburgh can
still claim a series split in tonight's second game.
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Mets scratched out a run last night
on Pedro Feliz's throwing error for a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia
Phillies. Philadelphia was handcuffed by Johan Santana who struck
out 10 batters in seven innings of two-hit ball. The Mets and
Phillies close out the two-game series tonight.
NEW YORK (AP) - Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin joins Washington's
Alex Ovechkin and Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk as finalists for the
Lester B. Pearson Award. This goes to the league's "most
outstanding player" as picked by fellow NHL players. This
guarantees the award will go to a Russian player for the third
time.
CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) - Former Philadlephia Eagle Sam Rayburn is
facing drug-related charges in his Oklahoma hometown. The
28-year-old Rayburn was charged in Grady County District Court with
two felony counts of obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled
substance by forgery or fraud.
