WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pittsubrgh Penguins are coming home down 2-0 to the Washington Capitals. Sidney Crosby's hat trick wasn't enough for the Penguins who dropped Game 2 in the series, 4-3, thanks to a hat trick from the Capitals' Alex Ovechkin. The series resumes Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Ryan Howard's seventh career grand slam paced the Philadelphia Phillies in a 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals last night. The night also provided a frightening moment
to Rick Ankiel, who crashed headfirst into the fence after chasing down a line drive. The series concludes tonight in St. Louis.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Rickie Weeks hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the ninth helping the Milwaukee Brewers rally for a 7-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on last night. The Pirates and Brewers are at it again tonight for the second of two games.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Phillies manager manager Charlie Manuel said left-hander Cole Hamels was on track to start Friday versus Atlanta. Hamels ran in the outfield to test his injured left ankle.
Hamels, the World Series and NLCS MVP, has been dogged by injuries in the early season.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote got his wish. He was released yesterday, having asked the team to trade or release him. Foote has started every Steelers game for five seasons, including their Super Bowl victories last season and after the 2005 season. But he was unhappy with coming off the field on passing downs.
