WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

NEW YORK (AP) - The Phillies are now tied with the Giants for
the wild card lead after a 3-1 win last night over the Mets. Kyle
Kendrick toyed with New York's sputtering offense into the seventh
inning. Jimmy Rollins stole two bases and Shane Victorino swiped
another to help manufacture two-out runs for the Phillies, who took
two out of three in the series.

NEW YORK (AP) - There's mixed news for the Phillies on the
injury front. Second baseman Chase Utley was 0 for 3 in his second
rehab outing for Class A Clearwater. He also made an error. Utley
could return to the team in this week. Meanwhile, first baseman
Ryan Howard's ankle was feeling a bit sore Sunday and it's unlikely
he will be activated from the DL tomorrow when he is eligible.

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston pinch-hitter Pedro Feliz hit a two-run
double in Houston's four-run sixth inning and the Astros extended
the Pittsburgh Pirates' skid to seven games with an 8-2 victory
yesterday. Hunter Pence and Chris Johnson had three hits apiece for
Houston, which trailed 2-1 after five innings.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger might not take another snap
at Heinz Field until his suspension for off-the-field behavior ends
in October. Roethlisberger never warmed up, put his helmet on or
stepped into the huddle on a rainy Saturday night as the Steelers
beat the Detroit Lions 23-7 in a preseason game. Roethlisberger
lobbied to play, but Tomlin had already made up his mind.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Unfortunately for the officials, it was open
mic night at Heinz Field Saturday. After the Steelers scored their
first touchdown Saturday in a 23-7 exhibition victory over the
Lions, referee Jeff Triplette's field microphone picked up
expletives uttered by him or one of his crew members apparently
aimed at the replay official.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - Eagles center Jamaal Jackson and guard
Todd Herremans were both taken off the physically unable to perform
list as the team returned to practice at Lehigh University
yesterday. Jackson has been trying to come back from a torn ACL
from the 15th game of the 2009 season and Herremans has been
dealing with a sore foot. The Eagles beat the Jaguars 28-27 Friday
night in their preseason opener.

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Danny Mwanga scored in the 73rd minute to
give the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 tie with the Colorado Rapids on
Saturday. The rookie's seventh goal of the season came on an
assists from Sebastien Le Toux. Philadelphia is winless with three
ties in its past five games.
