WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Baltimore Orioles completed a three-game
sweep of the slumping Philadelphia Phillies with a 2-1 victory
yesterday. Roberts hit an RBI single to center off Cole Hamels for
the winning run. The World Series champion Phillies have lost a
season-high six straight. The Phils will be off tonight.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ryan Howard's consecutive games streak ended
after the Phillies slugger was hospitalized for the second time
with flu symptoms. He did not play against the Baltimore Orioles
yesterday. The 2006 National League MVP played 343 straight games
since May 25, 2007. That's the longest streak of any current player
in the majors.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Now that his right knee is close to full
strength, Phillies closer Brad Lidge expects to be activated off
the disabled list this week. Lidge said he'd make at least one more
rehab appearance, tomorrow for Class-A Clearwater, then either be
activated or make a third rehab appearance if needed, Friday in
Toronto.

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies completed a sweep of the
Pittsburgh Pirates with a 5-4 victory yesterday. Since having their
11-game winning streak snapped, the Rockies have won five straight
and they improved to 18-5 under manager Jim Tracy. The Pirates are
off today.
