NEW YORK (AP) - Chase Utley led off the 11th inning with his
second homer of the game. That was just moments after right fielder
Jayson Werth saved Philadelphia with a diving catch. The Phillies
beat the New York Mets 5-4 last night. The Phils and Mets once
again will battle it out tonight.
NEW YORK (AP) - Jimmy Rollins is back in the leadoff spot for
the Philadelphia Phillies. The 2007 NL MVP was returned to his
regular role by manager Charlie Manuel. After slumping for much of
the season, Rollins was dropped to sixth in the batting order the
previous two games.
ATLANTA (AP) - Adam LaRoche drove in two runs in the Pittsburgh
Pirates 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves last night. Jeff Karstens
pitched well in his new role and Craig Monroe pulled off some nifty
baserunning. They face each other in the final fame of the series
this afternoon.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals is tomorrow
night. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Petr Sykora could miss the game
with a right foot injury sustained while playing in Game 6 Tuesday
night. The Penguins did not practice yesterday, but Sykora was seen
leaving Mellon Arena on crutches.
NEW YORK (AP) - The Stanley Cup finals are going to a Game 7 for
the first time since 2006, giving the series a chance to build on
strong television ratings. NBC said yesterday that the Pittsburgh
Penguins' 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 6 on Tuesday
night earned a 4.1 overnight rating and 7 share.
