PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers have named Eddie
Jordan as their new head coach. Jordan signed a three-year deal
with Philadelphia. He is the team's third coach since the start of
last season. Jordan's previous teams include coaching the
Washington Wizards and Sacremento Kings.
SAN DIEGO (AP) - The Phillies kicked off their west coast road
trip with a 5-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Chase Utley and Ryan
Howard hit consecutive home runs in the fifth inning for
Philadelphia's fourth victory in a row. The Phillies continue their
series with the Padres tonight in San Diego.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates scored five runs in eighth
inning to beat the New York Mets 8-5 last night. Adam LaRoche had
three hits to help the Pirates come back from a 5-0 deficit to win
for only the second time in six games. The two teams resume their
series tonight in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins continue their quest
for the Stanley Cup tonight with the series moving to Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are trying to avoid going down 3-0 to the defending
champions Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings know they'll see plenty
of scoring leader Evgeni Malkin and other Penguins tonight.
