WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Wednesday

WASHINGTON (AP) - An Adam LaRoche two-run, 10th-inning double
led the Pittsburgh Pirates to their season-high fourth straight win
and 8-5 victory over the Washington Nationals last night. The
four-game series continues tonight in Washington, which has dropped
six straight.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Philadelphia's left-hander Cole Hamels stayed
unbeaten against the Cincinnati Reds with a 4-3 victory last night,
giving Phillies' their fifth straight victory. The NL East leaders
matched their best winning streak of the season and go for their
sixth straight tonight against the Reds

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers have interviewed
Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis and Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey
for their coaching vacancy. The Sixers confirmed the Casey
interview, and a person familiar with the search told The
Associated Press that Rambis also was interviewed yesterday.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes are never one and
done. Carolina also lost Game 1s to New Jersey and Boston in the
opening two rounds, but rallied each time to win Game 7 on the
road. But since Sidney Crosby moved into Pittsburgh's lineup, the
Penguins haven't lost any playoff series in which they owned a
lead. They lead 1-0.
