WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tony DiLeo says his lone regret as the
Philadelphia 76ers interim coach was the 25-point loss in the post
season finale, but it wasn't the factor in his decision to step
down. He says he's returning to his job as the Sixers senior vice
president and assistant GM to spend more time with his family.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Former NBA coach and TNT analyst Doug
Collins has talked to the Philadelphia 76ers about their open
coaching job. Collins was among a list of candidates floated to
replace Tony DiLeo. Collins says he's talked to the Sixers -- quote
-- "two or three times"

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Sergei
Gonchar has practiced for the first time since injuring his right
knee during a collision with Alex Ovechkin and hopes to be playing
in tonight's decisive Game 7 against Washington. Gonchar says it
will be a gametime decision whether he takes the ice.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Chan Ho Park won his first game with
Philadelphia, and Jayson Werth stole home to lead the Phillies to a
5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last night. Werth stole
home in the seventh inning and tied a team record with four steals
in one game. The three-game series resumes tonight.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Zach Duke limited St. Louis to three singles
over eight innings and the Pittsburgh Pirates ended an eight-game
losing streak by beating the Cardinals 7-1 last night. Adam LaRoche
and Brandon Moss both broke out of slumps with homers for the
Pirates. The series continues tonight in Pittsburgh.
