PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins are down to a single
game. They lost to the Washington Capitals, 5-4, in overtime, last
night. That sends the series back to Washington tied three games
apiece for Game 7. David Steckel scored on a deflection of Brooks
Laich's shot to end the contewst 6:22 into overtime.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers interim coach Tony DiLeo
has withdrawn his name from consideration for the permanent
coaching job. Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski says DiLeo has
opted for his old job as senior vice president and assistant
general manager.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Union is the name of Major
League Soccer's 16th team. Team officials announced the name and
unveiled its logo outside City Hall yesterday. The club will open
play next year in an 18,500-seat stadium currently under
construction in Chester, a city about 10 miles outside
Philadelphia.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pitt wide receiver is charged with indecent
assault for allegedly slapping then groping the behind of a female
student, but campus officials aren't commenting on the charges. A
criminal complaint obtained by The Associated Press shows
19-year-old Jonathan Baldwin is charged with indecent assault,
harassment and disorderly conduct.
