ATLANTA (AP) - Ryan Howard homered twice and drove in with four
runs to back rookie J.A. Happ's 7 2-3 strong innings, and Brad
Lidge earned an easy save to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat
the Atlanta Braves 4-1 last night.Philadelphia, which has won five
of six, dropped the Braves six games back in the National League
East. The Phillies are off tonight.
ATLANTA (AP) - Philadelphia right-hander Brett Myers has been
cleared by an ophthalmologist for a long-toss session on Monday,
three days after injuring his eye. Myers injured his eye when he
slipped while getting out of his truck and hit his face Friday
night. Myers originally told the Phillies he was hurt playing catch
with 4-year-old son.
CHICAGO (AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs game was
postponed because of rain yesterday in Chicago. The game was called
after a delay of 3 hours, 15 minutes. No make up date was
announced.
NEW YORK (AP) - Michael Vick says he cried in prison because of
the guilt he felt about being involved in dogfighting. In an
interview with "60 Minutes" that aired last night, Vick said the
day he walked into prison he realized the magnitude of the
decisions he made. Vick served 18 months in federal prison. Last
week he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Michael Vick spent an extra 20 minutes on
the field after Eagles practice ended, trying to catch up on
Philadelphia's offense and get back into playing shape.Vick was in
good spirits Sunday and shared some laughs with teammate Donovan
McNabb. He practiced with the Eagles for the second time.
