NEW YORK (AP) - Mark Reynolds hit two more home runs at spacious
Citi Field, powering Dan Haren and the Arizona Diamondbacks to a
6-5 victory over the scuffling New York Mets last night. Daniel
Murphy homered and Luis Castillo drove in two runs for New York,
which has lost four of the last five. The Mets host the St. Louis
Cardinals starting tonight.
NEW YORK (AP) - New York City prosecutors say a grand jury has
indicted former New York Giants Plaxico Burress on weapons charges.
The grand jury did not indict his former teammate, Giants
linebacker Antonio Pierce. Prosecutors say the indictment charges
Burress with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one
count of reckless endangerment.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - Upset by press reports that starting
middle linebacker Stewart Bradley could miss the season with a knee
injury, Eagles coach Andy Reid says he's not talking about it.The
Eagles confirmed that Bradley suffered a knee injury in practice.
Yesterday, reports surfaced that the third-year pro has a torn ACL.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and the
Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a five-year contract,
ending the first-round pick's holdout. The deal was announced late
last night. Financial terms weren't released. Maclin has been
missing since the Eagles opened training camp.
CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Jets have waived tight end
Richard Owens and claimed tight end Kevin Brock off waivers from
the Carolina Panthers. Owens missed several training camp practices
with a leg injury, spending the last few days riding the stationary
bike. Owens has 17 career catches for 141 yards and a touchdown in
four NFL seasons.
