WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Wednesday

UNDATED (AP) - There's a change atop the American League East
standings. The New York Yankees have taken over the top spot with a
6-4 win over Baltimore while the Boston Red Sox fall one game back
after dropping a 4-2 decision in Texas for their fourth straight
loss.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Make it 10 straight wins for the
Philadelphia Phillies, who are on their longest winning streak
since they won 13 straight in 1991. Jayson Werth's walkoff,
three-run home run in the 13th inning powered the Phils to a 4-1
win over the Chicago Cubs last night.

ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Braves have won nine of their last 12
after last night's 8-1 win over San Francisco. Martin Prado had
three hits and scored three times and Brian McCann hit a three-run
homer and drove in four runs as the Braves moved two games over
.500.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Boston's All-Star knuckleballer Tim
Wakefield is headed to the disabled list because of a lower back
problem. The Red Sox recalled right-hander Clay Buchholz from
Triple-A Pawtucket to start in Wakefield's place in tonight's
finale of a three-game series in Texas.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - USA Basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski
(shuh-SHEF'-skee) and his entire staff of assistant coaches have
signed on to lead the United States in next summer's world
championships and when it defends its gold medal in the 2012
Olympics. Coach K coached Team USA to an Olympic gold medal last
year in Beijing and is coming back along with assistants Mike
D'Antoni of the Knicks, Nate McMillan of Portland and Jim Boeheim
(BAY'-hym) of Syracuse.
