PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Shane Victorino's RBI single with two outs
in the ninth inning lifted the Philadelphia Phillies over the
Cincinnati Reds 3-2 last night. Jayson Werth hit a solo homer for
the NL East-leading Phillies, who are 5-1 since losing 14 of 18.
Ryan Madson tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win. Both
teams play each other again tonight.
LEHIGH VALLEY (AP) - The Phillies All-Star Left Fielder Raul
Ibanez is scheduled to make another rehab start with Triple-A
Lehigh Valley tonight. He took last night off. Ibanez, out with a
groin injury since the middle of June, could rejoin the Phillies as
early as Friday.
HOUSTON (AP) - Wandy Rodriguez pitched a five-hitter and tied a
career high by striking out 11, leading the Houston Astros over the
Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 last night. Rodriguez threw his second
career complete game, having shut out the New York Mets two years
ago. This leaves the Pirates without a road series victory since
May 18-21. The Pirates are off.
