WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tonight the Philadelphia Phillies begin a
nine-game road trip in a World Series rematch against the Tampa Bay
Rays. Jamie Moyer will start tonight for Philadelphia. Being home
hasn't been much fun for the Philadelphia Phillies. The defending
World Series champions are 13-22 at home following a 1-8 homestand.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Phillies slugger Ryan Howard could return to
the lineup tonight at Tampa Bay, after being hospitalized over the
weekend with flu symptoms. The team says that he has acute
sinusitis. Philadelphia general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., says
Howard could rejoin the team in Tampa if he feels well enough.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pirates were off Monday after being swept
by the Rockies over the weekend. Ian Snell will be on the mound for
Pittsburgh tonight as the Pirates open up a series at PNC Park
against the Indians. The Indians plan to go with left-hander David
Huff. It's his first career appearance against the Pirates.

SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Former Philadelphia 76er Jayson Williams
will remain free on bail after a judge rejected a prosecutor's
request to revoke the bail and send him to prison for covering up
the shooting of a hired driver. A Superior Court Judge notes that
Williams hasn't been convicted of anything since his 2004 trial.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers are in their final
few days of preparation for the NBA draft on Thursday. They brought
in Ohio State center B.J. Mullens for a pre-draft workout over the
weekend. The 7-footer averaged 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds as a
freshman for the Buckeyes.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State made progress in the
just-completed school year in building its track and cross country
programs. The Nittany Lions men posted scores in all three
championships this year, including indoor and outdoor track & field
along with cross country.
