PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Rodrigo Lopez took a three-hitter into the seventh inning in his first outing in two years, helping the Philadelphia Phillies snap a six-game home losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the New York Mets. The right-hander hadn't pitched in the majors since having elbow ligament replacement surgery 23 months ago.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies have purchased the contract of right-hander Rodrigo Lopez from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and cleared a roster spot by designating reliever Jack Taschner for assignment. Lopez was a two-time 15-game winner with Baltimore and started against the Mets yesterday in place of injured rookie Antonio Bastardo.
MIAMI (AP) - Brandon Moss and Ramon Vazquez homered and Charlie Morton pitched six shutout innings to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Florida Marlins 7-4. Hanley Ramirez failed to drive in a run for the first time in 11 games for Florida, which was coming off a three-game sweep of Washington.
DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit caught five innings of a Gulf Coast League game yesterday, the first time he has played since breaking his right wrist April 19. Doumit expects to play again today for rookie league Bradenton,
then play four or five games at Triple-A before rejoining the Pirates.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Former NHL player Tom Fitzgerald is returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins' front office in the newly created position of assistant to general manager Ray Shero. Fitzgerald was the director of player personnel before becoming an assistant coach after Dan Bylsma replaced Michel Therrien as coach on February 15.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with forward Ruslan Fedotenko, who joined the team a year ago as a free agent. The 30-year-old winger had 16 goals and 23 assists in 65 regular season games. He scored seven goals during the playoffs. Fedotenko has also played with Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Defenseman Nate Guenin has signed a two-way contract with his hometown Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2009-10 season. Guenin will make $500,000 if he plays in the NHL and $105,000 if he plays in the AHL at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Guenin
had 14 assists in 62 games last season with the Philadelphia Flyers' AHL farm team.
UNDATED (AP) - Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher says the soldiers keep thanking the coaches and the coaches keep thanking them. Fisher, former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher and three other current and former coaches are taking part in the first NFL-USO coaches tour this weekend in Iraq.
SYLVANIA, Ohio (AP) - Paula Creamer plans to play in the U.S. Women's Open next week in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, despite a sore thumb. Creamer is resting the injured left thumb after getting two anti-inflammatory shots. The thumb kept her out of this week's Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Ohio.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - About 1,300 people have already registered for next year's Pittsburgh Marathon, two months after the race was held for the first time in six years. This year's marathon, on May 3, attracted 10,500 runners, though some of those ran only a half marathon. Early registration for next year's marathon began
Wednesday.
