CHICAGO (AP) - Ben Francisco led off the 12th inning with a home
run off Cubs closer Kevin Gregg and the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated Chicago 4-3 last night despite getting only three hits all
game. Jimmy Rollins also homered for the Phillies, who won for just
the fourth time in 12 games. The Phillies play again tonight in
Chicago.
CHICAGO (AP) - A disappointed Jamie Moyer says he feels misled
by Philadelphia Phillies management over his demotion to the
bullpen. The 46-year-old pitcher says he feels "a little
disheartened" after being taken out of the rotation to make room
for Pedro Martinez. Martinez will start tonight's game against the
Chicago Cubs.
DENVER (AP) - Ross Ohlendorf pitched solidly into the seventh
inning, Andrew McCutchen stole three bases and scored three runs
and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 last
night. The Pirates ended an eight-game losing streak. Ohlendorf
gave up three runs on six hits. The Pirates are again playing in
Colorado tonight.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Juqua
Parker has waived his preliminary hearing in a marijuana possession
charge. According to online court records, Parker waived his
hearing for today. He is charged with possession of a small amount
of marijuana stemming from a traffic stop last week near the team's
training camp at Lehigh University.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the
