WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

DELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies buried the Los
Angeles Dodgers 11-0 last night to take a two-games-to-one lead in
the National League Championship Series. Cliff Lee allowed three
hits and struck out 10 over eight innings of the Phillies' most
lopsided playoff victory ever. Shane Victorino capped the scoring
with a three-run homer after Ryan Howard drove in three runs and
Jayson Werth smacked a two-run blast.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Vikings are the first 6-and-0 team of the
NFL season this season after Brett Favre passed for 278 yards and
three touchdowns in a 33-31 win over Baltimore. Brett Favre's
(fahrvz) 58-yard completion to Sidney Rice set up Ryan Longwell's
fourth field goal of the game, a tiebreaking, 31-yard boot with
1:56 left. Ravens kicker Steve Hauschka (HAWSH'-kuh) hooked a
44-yard attempt as time expired to keep the Vikings undefeated.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Saints are 5-and-0 after dealing the
Giants their first loss of the season, a 48-27 laugher at New
Orleans. Drew Brees completed 23 of 30 passes for 369 yards and
four touchdowns after failing to throw a scoring strike in his two
previous games. Eli Manning fumbled on a sack and threw an
interception under pressure while completing just 14 of 31 passes
for 178 yards and a touchdown for the 5-and-1 Giants.

NEW YORK (AP) - Alabama has moved ahead of Florida in the latest
Associated Press football poll, capturing 39 of 59 first-place
votes. Texas remains third, Southern California moves up two
notches to No. 4 and Cincinnati jumps three spots to fifth. But the
Gators top the BCS standings, followed by the Crimson Tide and
Longhorns.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Martin Laird birdied the third playoff hole to
pull out a victory over Chad Campbell and George McNeill in a PGA
stop at Las Vegas. Laird shot a final-round 68 for a 19-under total
in his first career victory.
