NEW YORK (AP) - A last-ditch shot by Maalik Wayns of Villanova
at the buzzer clanked off the rim, allowing South Florida to beat
the Wildcats 70-69 in the Big East tournament last night. The
Wildcats squandered a 16-point halftime lead, completing their
collapse when Wayns threw away an inbound pass with 22.8 seconds
left.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Cole Hamels worked the kinks out of his
delivery and set down the last 11 batters he faced, Ryan Howard

hit his team-leading third home run of the spring.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown has
had surgery on his broken right hand and is expected to miss four

game Sunday. Phillies head team trainer Scott Sheridan says Brown
will be back at camp in Florida today to begin a rehabilitation
program.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Carl Pavano threw four sharp innings in
the Minnesota Twins' 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh yesterday. Pirates

reliever, pitched two hitless innings. Lyle Overbay homered for
Pittsburgh, and Andrew Lambo had two RBIs.
