PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Donovan McNabb says he has no problem with
Michael Vick taking some of his snaps and warns opponents that the
two quarterbacks could be on the field together at times. Vick was
signed by the Philadelphia Eagles to add a different dimension to
the team's offense and to vary the play formations, not to push
McNabb for a starting job.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Andy LaRoche, Garrett Jones and Ronny Cedeno
homered and the Pittsburgh Pirates won for only the second time in
their past 14 games, 9-5 over the Milwaukee Brewers last night. The
Pirates scored a total of four runs during a four-game losing
streak and did not homer in their just-completed five-game trip.
They host Milwaukee tonight.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward
would love to see if Usain Bolt could make it as an NFL wide
receiver. After Bolt ran a world record-setting 9.58 seconds in the
100-meter dash on Sunday, Ward began wondering what kind of
downfield threat he would be. Ward says he loves Usain's speed.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers fielded the NFL's
best defense the last two seasons, so they don't like it when
anyone scores against them. Even a teammate.Rookie free agent Isaac
Redman spiked the ball after scoring five times in seven attempts
during a goal-line drill, three times against a majority of the
starters.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - In his last two starts for Pitt, Pat Bostick
defeated Notre Dame and West Virginia, both on the road. Few other
quarterbacks in school history own such a resume.Despite his
big-game success, Bostick may be get the number 1 spot. Sources say
Bostick appears to be slipping into the background at Pitt during
the competition for quarterback.
