LANDOVER, Md. (AP) - DeSean Jackson scored on a 67-yard reverse
and caught a 57-yard touchdown pass, as the Philadelphia Eagles
converted three turnovers into points last night in a 27-17 win
over the Washington Redskins. The Eagles came back to form after
last week's jarring loss to the Oakland Raiders. Donovan McNabb
completed 15 of 25 passes for 156 yards.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Fans wished the Philadelphia Phillies well
as they boarded an Amtrak train at 30th Street Station en route to
New York yesterday. The Phillies and New York Yankees both plan on
working out today at Yankee Stadium in advance of the World Series.
Game 1 of the series is scheduled to start tomorrow night at 7:57
p.m.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A few hundred fans gathered outside
Philadelphia's City Hall yesterday at a rally in advance of the
World Series. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and the Philly
Phanatic helped rally fans, while a Phillies announcer led the
crowd in Frank Sinatra's "High Hopes".
NEW YORK (AP) - Sports fans in New York overwhelmingly chose to
watch the Yankees decisive Game 6 playoff game over the Giants
regular-season football matchup Sunday night. Fox says Game 6 of
the AL championship series was watched by 26.4 percent of the
market's homes with televisions, as opposed to the Giants game on
NBC seen by just over 9 percent of homes.
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A Philadelphia Phillies star of the 1980s
will be the new manager of the Camden Riversharks minor league
baseball team. The Riversharks announced yesterday that Von Hayes,
a 12-year major league veteran, will manage the Atlantic League
club in 2010. Hayes will be introduced to fans at Camden's
Campbell's Field on Thursday night.
