PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Capitals have swept the season series with the Penguins thanks to a 6-3 victory in Pittsburgh last night. Alex Ovechkin scored twice to tie Sidney Crosby's NHL leading 48 goals. Crosby had a goal and two assists to give him his fourth 100-point season in five seasons.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin sat out last night's game against the Caps with an undisclosed illness. Malkin took part in yesterday's morning skate and was on the ice for pregame warmups before returning to the dressing room. Malkin has missed eight of Pittsburgh's last ten games.

TORONTO (AP) - The Flyers have moved ahead of Boston for the seventh spot in the East after beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-0. Claude Giroux and Mike Richards had goals for Philadelphia. Brian Boucher had 23 saves for the Flyers.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Detroit Pistons came into Philadelphia short-handed last night, but it wasn't a problem as the Pistons downed the 76ers 124-103 to snap an 11-game losing streak. Marreese Speights scored 21 points and Jodie Meeks 19 for the struggling Sixers, who have lost four straight.

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Eagles and Browns have finished up their trade that sends cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland. The Browns were waiting on results from physicals for both players. Philadelphia gets linebacker Alex Hall and two draft picks in return.

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Donovan McNabb says he would have loved to finish his career with the Eagles, but it's something that didn't happen. During his introductory press conference at Redskins headquarters, McNabb said he's "starting a new chapter in the book of Donovan."

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Much-hyped Washington Nationals phenom Stephen Strasburg is taking his new found celebrity in stride. Strasburg is starting his professional career with the Nats' Double-A affiliate in Harrisburg. During yesterday's media day, Strasburg said he's been given no timetable for when he'll make his big league debut.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Robert Morris basketball coach Mike Rice has taken himself out of the running to become the head man at Tulane and says he'll remain at Robert Morris. Rice has taken the Colonials to the NCAA tournament the past two years.
