CINCINNATI (AP) - Raul Ibanez came up with a run-scoring double in the 10th inning to rally Philadelphia past the Cincinnati 9-6 last night. The Phils were up 6-3 in the ninth before Joey Votto smacked a three-run homer with two outs off Brad Lidge. Infielders Chase Utley and Placido Polanco have been sent to the disabled list. The Phillies have called up infielder Brian Bocock and utility player Greg Dobbs.
NEWTON SQUARE, Pa. (AP) - Tiger Woods will be playing at this week's AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club in suburban Philadelphia, but he won't be hosting it. AT&T was the second corporate sponsor to end its endorsement deal with Woods. The tournament is also moving north from Congressional Country Club in suburban Washington.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - South Carolina is celebrating its first national title in baseball. The Gamecocks rallied with a run in the 11th inning on Whit Merrifield's run-scoring single and beat UCLA 2-1 to win the College World Series.
