GIRL'S A

TRI VALLEY VS. DELCO CHRISTIAN, 2:30 P.M. GEIGLE - T-102

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Jrue Holiday had 15 points and nine
rebounds, and the Philadelphia 76ers built an early double-digit
lead in coasting past the Sacramento Kings 102-80 last night. The
76ers moved ahead of the New York Knicks into sixth place in the
Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is a half-game in front of the
Knicks and three behind fifth-place Atlanta.

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed
left-hander Garrett Olson off waivers from the Seattle Mariners.
Olson was 0-3 with one save and a 4.54 ERA while making a
career-high 35 appearances with the Mariners last season.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Brad
Lincoln was hit in his pitching arm by a line drive and left the
game with a bruise. Lincoln was struck by Jimmy Rollins' liner in
the third inning of yesterday's game against Philadelphia. He
recovered in time to field the ball near the first-base line and
tag out Rollins.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Temple has its roots firmly in the gritty
tradition of Philadelphia basketball. San Diego State has no
tradition beyond all that gorgeous beach. The meeting between
seventh-seeded Temple and No. 2 seed San Diego State in the third
round of the NCAA Southeast Regional is a contrast in styles.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Luke Hancock hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds
left, capping George Mason's comeback and keeping the one-time
March darlings playing with a 61-57 win over Villanova in the
second round of the NCAA tournament. Villanova missed its last shot
Friday and Mike Morrison slammed home one final basket for the
Patriots.

WASHINGTON (AP) - As the top seed in the Southeast Regional,
Pittsburgh is an obvious favorite over Butler. The Panthers are
not, however, a fan favorite. That distinction goes to Butler, a
mid-major darling that has built a reputation in the NCAA
tournament as a can-do underdog. The two meet today.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State is still recovering from
its stunning last-second loss to Temple in the NCAA tournament, but
the Nittany Lions will soon turn their attention to next season.
The team will have a dramatically different look without star guard
Talor Battle and three other senior starters.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - Welterweight contender Brad Solomon won a
unanimous decision over Demetrius Hopkins last night in Hollywood,
Fla. Hopkins, of Philadelphia and nephew of former middleweight
champion Bernard Hopkins, couldn't mount enough of a late-fight
attack to overtake Solomon's early advantage.
