MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Steelers quarterback Ben
Roethlisberger says he's "happy" to put sexual assault
allegations in Georgia behind him and knows he must work to regain
the trust of his teammates and fans. The attorney for the woman who
accused Roethlisberger says she asked prosecutors not to pursue the
case in order to avoid an intrusive trial.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - While Ben Roethlisberger is off the hook
legally for an alleged sexual assault, he still may face punishment
from the NFL. Roethlisberger still has to meet with NFL
commissioner Roger Goodell and could still be fined and suspended
over the incident. Roethlisberger is also accused in a lawsuit of
raping a woman in Nevada in 2008.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh judge has dismissed disorderly
conduct and public drunkenness charges against Steelers kicker Jeff
Reed. Reed was charged after a confrontation with police outside a
bar last October. The judge dropped two charges against Reed in
March and told him he would also drop the remaining two if he
completed community service.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies offense came to the rescue once
again and gave the team a 7-4 victory in the home opener against
the Nationals. Philadelphia was down 4-0 to Washington in the 4th
inning before roaring back. The Phillies are now 6-1 on the year.
It's their best start since 1993, when they won the NL pennant.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Giants starter Barry Zito gave up three
runs on five hits and the San Francisco did their part in a 9-3 win
over the Pirates last night. Akinori Iwamura (ah-kee-NOOR'-ee
ee-wah-MYOOR'-uh) and Andy LaRoche had two hits apiece for
Pittsburgh. Iwamura had two RBIs and LaRoche scored twice. The loss
was the Pirates' sixth in a row in San Francisco.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Dwyane Wade's 30 points helped lift the
Miami Heat over the 76ers 107-105 last night. Andre Iguodala tied
it at 105 for the Sixers with a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left, but
Wade came up with a big assist to Udonis Haslem for the go-ahead
basket with 1.3 seconds left. It was the final home game of the
season for Philadelphia.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Steelers have signed defensive end Nick
Eason to a one-year extension. Eason started five games for
Pittsburgh last season. He joined the team as a free agent in 2007.
Fellow defensive end Travis Kirschke hasn't been re-signed by the
Steelers and is expected to retire.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Former NFL linebacker Lee Woodall is
accused of using a $400,000 minority-business loan from a
Pennsylvania state agency to finance lavish spending on trips, cars
and jewelry. Woodall is charged with theft in the case. Woodall
spent eight years in the NFL that included stints with San
Francisco, Carolina and Denver.
