WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Tuesday

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Pirates just can't seem to figure out the
Brewers. Milwaukee trounced Pittsburgh again last night, winning
17-3. The Brewers have outscored the Pirates 53-4 in their last
four meetings, including a 20-0 win last Thursday. The Pirates have
lost seven straight overall and 22 straight at Milwaukee's Miller
Park.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Phillies' ace Roy Halladay has his first
loss in a Philadelphia uniform. The Phils dropped a 5-1 decision in
San Francisco last night. Halladay had his six-start winning streak
snapped, which is the second-longest of his career. The
right-hander gave up five runs on 10 hits in seven innings.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Phillies slugger Ryan Howard is set to
become one of the richest players in baseball. Howard has agreed to
a five year, $125 million contract extension with the team. The
deal will keep him a Phillie through 2016. The team has an option
for a sixth year in 2017.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says
he won't appeal his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's
personal conduct policy. Roethlisberger has apologized to his
teammates and fans in a statement and has promised he won't put
himself in such a situation again.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Steelers have added eight rookie free
agents who didn't get picked up in last week's NFL draft.
Pittsburgh has signed Virginia Tech fullback Demetrius Taylor and
three offensive linemen in James Madison's Dorrian Brooks, North
Carolina's Kyle Jolly and Miami's A.J. Trump among others in the
group.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A University of Pennsylvania football player
has been found dead in his off-campus residence in Philadelphia.
The university says junior Owen Thomas was found dead yesterday
afternoon. The cause of death hasn't been determined, but foul play
isn't suspected.

READING, Pa. (AP) - Washington Nationals prospect and Harrisburg
Senators star Stephen Strasburg has had to wait a day for his next
start. Yesterday's game between the Senators and the Reading
Phillies was a rain out and will be made up today as part of a
double-header. Strasburg is slated to pitch in the first game.
Strasburg is 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA this season.
