WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Friday

HOUSTON (AP) - Ubaldo Jimenez (oo-BAHL'-doh hih-MEHN'-ehz)
allowed one hit over seven innings and became baseball's first
eight-game winner as the Colorado Rockies blanked the Houston
Astros 4-0. Jimenez improved his major league-low ERA to 0.99 and
combined with Matt Belisle and Manny Corpas on the three-hitter.

BOSTON (AP) - Kevin Youkilis hit a three-run homer and added an
RBI double to help Jon Lester earn his fourth straight victory and
lead the Boston Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over Minnesota. Twins
starter Francisco Liriano, who won his first four decisions to
start the season, has now lost three straight starts.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to terms with
TV analyst Doug Collins to become their new coach and a formal
announcement is expected today. One person familiar with the deal
said Collins agreed to a four-year contract.

MONTREAL (AP) - After just over 172 minutes of shutout hockey in
the playoffs, Philadelphia Flyers goalie Michael Leighton
(LAY'-tuhn) showed he was human after all. The Montreal Canadiens
dented the net five times against Leighton in their 5-1 win last
night that cuts the Flyers series lead to 2-1 in the Eastern
Conference final heading into tomorrow afternoon's Game 4 in
Montreal.

UNDATED (AP) - Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong
has responded to allegations made by 2006 Tour winner Floyd Landis
that Armstrong was involved in doping. Armstrong denies the
allegation made by Landis, who was stripped of the 2006 Tour de
France title after being found guilty of doping.
