WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Thursday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Flyers will now have to win four
straight in order to move on in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Bruins took a 3-0 lead in the series with a 4-1 win in
Philadelphia last night. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask allowed a quick
goal to Arron Asham at the start, but stopped 34 shots. A must-win
Game 4 for the Flyers is tomorrow.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Charlie Morton was effective for the first
time this season, allowing two runs in six-plus innings as the
Pirates beat the Cubs 4-2 last night. Morton entered the game tied
for worst in the majors with five losses. The win was his first
since last September. Ryan Church homered for the Bucs and Garrett
Jones went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

to help the Phillies cruise to a 4-0 shutout of the St. Louis
Cardinals. Placido Polanco slammed a two-run home run for
Philadelphia. The Phils will look to take the series with Roy
Halladay on the mound tomorrow.

the big league squad.

apprehend most fans who jump on the field during games and then
hand them over to police to face charges. The revised policy has
been comes after a Philadelphia police officer Tasered a teenage
fan who ran onto the field at Citizens Bank Park.

MONTREAL (AP) - Penguins center Jordan Staal has skated with his
teammates only five days after undergoing surgery to repair a
severed tendon in his right foot. Staal was clearly favoring his

hour-long session. Penguins coach Dan Bylsma has stopped short of
saying Staal is a possibility for Game 4 tonight in Montreal.

football coaches. Basketball coach Fran Dunphy has signed an
eight-year deal that could keep him with the program through the
2017-18 season. Football coach Al Golden has agreed to a five year
extension that could keep him in Philadelphia through the 2014
season.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt is staying
away from questions about Big Ten expansion. Wannstedt and Penn
State coach Joe Paterno addressed reporters yesterday in State

issue and any talks would be up to school officials. Paterno said
last year he'd like to see Pitt, Rutgers or Syracuse join the Big
Ten.
