ATLANTA (AP) - Dan Uggla hit a tiebreaking home run off Roy
Halladay in the eighth inning to cap a productive day. The Atlanta
Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 yesterday to take two
wins in the three-game series. Uggla had two hits and a walk and
scored each of the Braves' runs John Mayberry had a two-run homer
for Philadelphia.
ATLANTA (AP) - Phillies right-hander Roy Oswalt is expected to
start tomorrow in St. Louis. Oswalt threw a bullpen session
Saturday in Clearwater, Florida. He's on the disabled list with
lower back inflammation.
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Ryan Braun homered, tripled and drove in four
runs, leading a shaky Zack Greinke and the Milwaukee Brewers over
the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-6 yesterday for a three-game sweep. Casey
McGehee and Jonathan Lucroy also homered as the Brewers beat
Pittsburgh for the ninth straight time at Miller Park.
DENVER (AP) - Jeremy Noble had four goals and Jamie Faus stopped
13 shots, helping Denver rally for a 13-10 victory over Villanova
yesterday in the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament. Winners of 11
straight, the Pioneers play Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals
Saturday.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Matt White scored 1:27 into overtime
after Virginia made a dramatic comeback in regulation to beat
Bucknell 13-12 in the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament. White's
second goal of the game came off a pass from ACC player of the year
Steele Stanwick, whose two goals in the final 2:32 forced overtime.
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Defending champion Harvard won the Rowe
Cup in the 65th annual Eastern Sprints yesterday. This is the 31st
time under coach Harry Parker the Crimson have captured the
heavyweight portion of the regatta held by the Eastern Association
of Rowing Colleges.
