WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Tuesday

CHICAGO (AP) - Marian Hossa and Ben Eager scored 28 seconds
apart late in the second period, Antti Niemi had 33 saves and the
Chicago Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 for a 2-0 lead
in the Stanley Cup finals. After a wild scoring display when
Chicago won the opener 6-5, Game 2 featured tightened-up defenses.

CHICAGO (AP) - Marian Hossa has a unique hat trick going as the
first player to make the Stanley Cup finals three straight years
with three different teams. This time, he's looking for a different
outcome. After back-to-back losses with Pittsburgh and Detroit,
Hossa says he's in "a really interesting situation" with the
Chicago Blackhawks as they face the Philadelphia Flyers.

ATLANTA (AP) - Chipper Jones and Troy Glaus homered to back a
strong start by Tommy Hanson and help the Atlanta Braves move into
first place in the National League East with a 9-3 victory over the
slumping Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have won six straight
and are one-half game ahead of Philadelphia, which has dropped nine
of 13.

ATLANTA (AP) - The Phillies have activated right-handed closer
Brad Lidge from the disabled list after he missed 18 games because
of elbow stiffness. Lidge had surgery on the elbow in January and
didn't appear in a game until April 30. But his elbow felt stiff
and he was told to rest it.
MIAMI (AP) - Here's a chance to buy tickets to a guaranteed
perfect game - the one Roy Halladay already threw. The Florida
Marlins will begin selling on Tuesday unused tickets to the game in
which the Phillies ace pitched the 20th perfect game in major
league history. All tickets will be regularly priced and on sale
both online and through the Marlins' box office.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pinch-hitter Bobby Crosby singled in the
go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Pittsburgh Pirates ended a
five-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Cubs 2-1. The
Pirates beat the Cubs for the eighth time in nine meetings dating
to last season. Garrett Jones homered to tie the game at 1 in the
sixth.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pirates are benched second baseman Aki
Iwamura before Monday's game. Iwamura is their highest-paid player
but one of the majors' worst-performing hitters. Iwamura has shown
little range in the field and his .173 batting average is the third
lowest in the majors for an everyday player.
