PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Padres have notched their first series
sweep in Pittsburgh since 1998 by beating the last place Pirates
6-3. A two-run shot from Adrian Gonzalez highlighted a five-run
third inning against Pirates rookie Brad Lincoln. Lincoln allowed
six runs and eight hits in 6-plus innings.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pirates have optioned rookie starting
pitcher Brad Lincoln to Triple-A Indianapolis and designated
veteran right-handed reliever Brendan Donnelly for assignment.
Lincoln has a 6.57 ERA, and has allowed 17 hits and 13 runs in his
last two starts. Donnelly was 1-3 with a 5.58 ERA in 38 games.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jimmy Rollins singled home the tying run in
the seventh inning then put the Phillies ahead a by scoring on a
wild pitch as Philadelphia beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3. The
Rockies had a 3-2 lead before the teams had to sit through a rain
delay of 1 hour, 39 minutes after the sixth inning.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Michael Vick is reportedly facing charges
that he made unauthorized and illegal gifts to friends and family
in the months before he declared bankruptcy. ESPN.com reports court
records show the Eagles quarterback's bankruptcy trustee claims
that instead of paying his creditors, Vick made payments to his
mother, the mothers of his three children and his siblings.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Seventy-sixers star Andre Iguodala had a big
night for winning squad in the showcase scrimmage for the USA
basketball team over the weekend. Iguodala had 17 points for the
Blue team, going 5 of 6 from the field including making all three
3-point attempts. Iguodala is fighting for a spot on the team that
will represent the U.S. at next month's world championships.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) - A top offensive line prospect has
pledged his commitment to play at Penn State next year. The
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Angelo Mangiro chose the Nittany
Lions over Pitt, Ohio State and Rutgers during a news conference in
New Jersey. The 6-foot-4 guard is the fourth player to commit to
PSU's class of 2011.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A private funeral will be held in North
Carolina today for Kaye Cowher, the wife of former Steelers coach
Bill Cower, who died at the age of 54 Friday. Kaye Cowher was a
former basketball player at North Carolina State and played in the
now-defunct Women's Professional Basketball League. In the pros,
she played alongside twin sister Faye.
